The Girls U18 team competed in the So Cal Cup in Oceanside this past weekend. With a record of 2-1 in pool play (3-0 over Oceanside Breakers GU18, 2-0 over Peyna Barcelona, 0-3 to Surf 92-93 Premier) the girls found themselves playing the Surf team they had lost to early in the day. The final game was two 45 minute halves then immediately to penalty kicks if necessary (and it was). Storm found themselves up 1-0 in the first half after some tough play in the Surf box. An intense battle continued as both teams fought up and down the pitch. Surf was able to get the equalizer on a late goal. Storm had a few more chances to win the game in regulation time but were unsuccessful. The Storm girls lost in penalty kicks 3-2 but was a great showing against a Surf team that won GU19 Premier 1 last season and is moving to Premier Elite (the Storm GU19 will be playing the upcoming season in AAA).
